There are important stages that ngo in India have to go through to be certified under 80g. First of all the organization needs to register with the relevant government laws, for example the Societies Registration Act or the Trust Act. At this stage the ngo should complete a detailed application with its aims, how those aims are met and financial records. The registration certificate and pan are also required documents to submit. Once the application is submitted to the Income Tax Department the ngo might be asked to answer questions or give more details.
